Douglas Ferguson

FERGUSON, Douglas

“Everyone’s life ends the same way. It’s only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguishes one man from another” E. Hemingway

Doug ended his journey, as he wished, at home on December 12, 2020. Loving husband and best friend of Liz, for 50 years. Cherished father of Kevin (Ashley) and Andrew (Dorinda). Adored Papa of Austin, Lachlan, Hannah and Noah. Doug was a loving brother of Alex, Ann, Robert and Heather. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, colleagues, teammates and neighbours. Doug’s career with the Durham Board of Education brought him tremendous joy. His relationships with students, staffs and parents was integral to the success of his career. He began his Principalship at Parkside School in Ajax, where he attended himself as a student. His career ended at the Board Office as Operations Officer. Retirement allowed him to spend his time with the people he loved, enjoying his favourite hobbies of travel, golf, wine and grand kids! Special times were spent with the 6 Yr. Club, the All-star graduates of Ajax! Due to COVID 19, there will be no formal funeral at this time, there will be a celebration of Doug’s life held in the future. Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Rd. North, Oshawa, ON 905-579-6787). Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted for the Lakeridge Health Foundation. https://lakeridgehealthfoundation.akaraisin.com/ui/holidaymatch2020/donations/start.

We lost a great friend and mentor. The ultimate family guy. Loved talking about his kids and grandkids. Stories of travel and golf.
