In memory of

Douglas Alexander Forbes Walker

October 11, 1953 -  January 15, 2022

Doug passed away peacefully at home after a long illness at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Teresa, and his children, Elizabeth, Catherine, William and Alexandra. He will be dearly missed by his mother Helen Adele Walker, brothers Dave (Lisa) and Derek (Leslie), aunt Norein and cousin Deanne. He was predeceased by his father Donald.

Doug was a graduate of Thornlea Secondary School, York University, OISE (U of T) and Seneca College. He worked as an accountant for Gulf Canada and Petro Canada for several years. Doug was an avid reader and lifelong lover of music – both classical and jazz. He also loved visiting with neighbours and spending time at the family cottage, sitting by the lake.

Many thanks to his long-time caregivers, Abena, Ruth, Josie and Bella. Thank you to the staff at Anne Johnson Health Station – Erika and Rosemary, Selectacare – Greg, Linda and Alex, and Metro Pharmacists Sue and Diana. Thanks also to staff at the Freeman Centre, Dr. Berman and the doctors with the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, and the cardiac units at Sunnybrook and NYGH (Cardiologists Dr. Joyner and Dr. Lubelsky respectively). Your kindnesses will never be forgotten.

Attendance numbers are limited, but the service will be livestreamed and recorded.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to WNED Classical (https://www.wned.org/ways-to-support/gift-memberships-and-in-memoriam/) and JAZZ.FM91 (https://jazz.fm/donate/) radio stations or the Toronto Public Library Foundation (https://tplfoundation.ca/donate/) in support of arts programming.

So very sorry to hear of Douglas Walker's passing.
I never had the pleasure of meeting him but I could tell from conversations with Teresa at work that he was a very kind and gentle person who loved his family very much. My most heartfelt condolences to Teresa and family. May you find comfort in the support from family and friends in this very difficult
time. Sincerely, Peggy K.

Rest in peace dear Doug. I'm so sorry that we haven't seen each other in such a long time. Thank you for giving my sister the love she deserved and the children she wanted. Together you created a warm, loving home. Now there is no more pain. Only peace. Love Cathie
