In memory of

Dorothy Elizabeth McGarvey

October 23, 1940 -  November 2, 2017

Dorothy Elizabeth McGarvey went home to heaven on November 2, 2017, at the age of 77 years, after battling cancer for over 2 years. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Dorothy was born in Monaghan, Southern Ireland, to Samuel and Mary Jane Wallace. As a young girl, Dorothy knew her need of a Saviour and put her faith in Jesus Christ. In 1963, Dorothy married Arden and they had three children. In 1970, the family emigrated to Canada and raised their family in the greater Toronto area.

Dorothy was a woman of great faith and always was positive and full of hope. Even to the end, she had a smile on her face and a hymn of praise on her lips. Everyone who saw her in the last little while was impacted by her faithfulness and peace to the end.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by her husband, Arden, of 54 years, her children, Stephen (Natalie), Alastair (Theora), and Arlene (John Kember). Her grandchildren, Sabrina, Wesley, Caleb, Joel and Caroline were very fond of her as she always loved to spend ‘quality’ time with them. Her dear sister, Doreen (Stewart), will miss her deeply as they were very close. She is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends who remained close despite years and distance.

Gone before her are her parents, her brother, Noel, and sister, Evelyn (Graham).

Dear Dorothy has been an example of Christianity --loyalty to her Lord and Saviour, and love for her fellow believers. We value the memory of her consistent friendship and our happy family times together since they arrived in Canada in 1970.
