Denyse Ellen Dorfman (née Doherty) February 14, 1939 - November 11, 2023. We are deeply saddened to announce that Denyse passed peacefully in her home, early on November 11th. She will be dearly missed by Michael, her loving husband of 60 years; and their children, Stephen, Marc (Heather) and Andrea (Dave); as well as her grandchildren, Sydney and Phoebe, whom she adored. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Doherty, Denyse was born in Winnipeg, moving with her family at the age of 7, first to New York City and then to Sydney, Australia, before she returned to Canada, living out her youth in Montreal. She settled in Toronto, marrying the love of her life, Michael, and raising their wonderful children amidst a strong community of friends. Throughout their marriage, travelling was a passion for Denyse and Michael, and they enjoyed many adventures exploring the world. A highlight was always Paris, where they lived for three years when Michael's work fortuitously took them there and went back regularly for extended visits. Always happy to return home to Toronto, they'd share stories at their favourite neighbourhood cafe with dear friends who will greatly miss Denyse's presence over morning coffee, a cherished ritual. Denyse will be remembered for her deep love of family, her long-lasting friendships, her curious mind, her strong opinions and her elegant style. A gifted chef, she regularly gathered friends and family around her dining room table where she served countless memorable meals. She was a lover and supporter of the arts, and enthusiastically shared her interests with those who were lucky enough to enter her orbit. We will mourn the passing of Denyse and all of the ways she enriched our lives.

There will be a gathering to celebrate Denyse on Friday, December 1st at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre from 1 - 3 pm.
