In memory of

Doreen Evadne Daniels

January 31, 1930 -  January 23, 2021

Mrs. Doreen Evadne Daniels, of the late Ada and Christopher Daniels was born Friday January 31, 1930 in West Berbice Guyana. Doreen was the Sister of the Late Lucille Beaton, Lytton ‘Son’ Daniels, Myrtle Cameron and Ferdinand Daniels.

As a child – Doreen was puny as a child. She was born weighing less than a pound. Growing up she was closest with her brother, Son-Son and loved her Mother dearly. She spoke at length of her heartache of losing Son-Son so young in the prime of his life and her Mom when she was so far away. She held an intense love, dedication and commitment to family and ensuring she did all she could to support them however possible. Her life was in service to everyone.

She used to say, “whatever you do, do it with your whole heart.”

Doreen began her career in 1946 as a trainee teacher in Pomeroon and came to Georgetown, the capital city where she continued her service as a young teacher. Doreen retired as a Senior Mistress, Carmel R.C. Primary in 1985. When not teaching she spent her time enjoying a movie at the matinees or reading a book. She was always with a book... and in later years her novel and address book.

She reminded us: "Reading is the gateway to knowledge. Read a book!" she would say.

On her reading breaks, she connected by telephone no less with her many, many friends, for long hours of chatting and many laughs. Several of Doreen’s students remember her as “a disciplinarian with a heart of pure gold”.

Doreen was an active member of her community and continued to work outside of the hours of school teaching children and adults and sharing knowledge. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Doreen quietly departed this life Saturday January 23, 2021 at Lakeridge Health Center in Ajax Ontario. She is survived by her youngest sibling Myrtle Cameron, daughter Ingrid Adams, grandchildren Treina and Fabian; great grand children Jayden and Daniel; a host of devoted family members: The Goddings, Cameron’s, Khan-Soungie’s, Mendez; Piggotts, Christianis, Dewars, Adams, Daniels, Duffs, Beatons, Edwards, Pembertons; Wharton’s; Adams; Butts; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends’ world wide including Eileen Barkie, The Persauds and Doris Franklin.

Doreen would be missed by all who knew her; she was always positive and
could debate anyone on politics and world affairs. I fondly remember her during
the times she would "adult sit" with my dear mom, and she would tell my mom what
was her favorite TV show and they would both watch with much satisfaction.
Doreen was kind and helpful. May she Rest in Peace.

Ms. Daniels was a kind, gentle but stern teacher, and a great mentor, she was also my youngest Brother’s God mother, my mom had a close relationship with her because she showed interest and caring when I was her student in Common Entrance class.
Through the years I often inquired about her, and a few years ago learned she lived in Canada, i am sorry I did not get a chance to visit with her.
Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her O’Lord, May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her, Forever and Ever. Amen🙏🙏🙏

She was a kind and gentle soul and she touched the lives of all the people who knew her, in a very positive way. It was our pleasure to take care of her for the almost seven years. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
