In memory of

Donna McCabe

August 11, 1943 -  September 1, 2020

It is with great sadness that we remember the passing of Donna at her home in Princeton, N.J.

Donna was born and educated in Toronto. Her parents were Ashley and Edna Bedlington formerly of Scarborough.

Donna was always interested in people and made lifetime friends wherever her family and her work in medical research took her - Toronto, Montreal, Basel and Geneva Switzerland and Princeton, N.J.

She leaves her beloved daughter Ariane McCabe (Geneva, Switzerland), her spouse Vincenzo Pirrotta (Princeton, N.J.), her brother Wesley Bedlington (Hope) and sister Cathy Bedlington, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on 23 October at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, with limited invitations because of the pandemic. On-line access will be available through her memorial page on the Mount Pleasant Cemetery webpage.

Donna’s memory will always be with us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society: https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation

I knew Donna in Basel, Geneva, and Princeton. I remember a lovely evening in Geneva when my mother and I visited, and then of course we reconnected when she came to the US. She was always such a gracious hostess who produced perfectly elegant meals, seemingly effortlessly. We always enjoyed our times together. I send my deep condolences to Ariane, Vincenzo, and others in Donna's family. May she now rest in peace.

I met Donna all those years ago when I was a young faculty member in Basel, Donna was our secretary that took care of our correspondence and manuscripts. We had good times going out for dinners and drinks. And as things turned out, I would see her again in Geneva, Houston, Princeton. There were memorable meals that she had made as evidence of her culinary skills and of our good times together.
