Donald McKerron

November 1, 1923 -  May 29, 2016

Donald McKerron in his 93rd year passed away in his sleep on Sunday May 29th. Predeceased by his wife and best friend Shirley Agnes McKerron (nee Ripley), his parents Ernest and Marjorie, his brothers John, Bob, Angus, Sandy, his sisters Bessie and Jessie. Survived by his brother Ross McKerron, his children Ross, Elizabeth (Murray Huff), Susan (Brock Carlton) and Scott (Laura Cude), his grandchildren Erin (Torsten Sander), Andrew, Ian, Ryan, Laurel, Lindsay, Hollis, Stephen and Alexander.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Don attended Maurice Cody Public School, and Northern Vocational School, and then went on to the University of Toronto to study engineering. He graduated in 1946 with a degree in metallurgical engineering. Don met his wife of 64 years while working for Sydney Steel (DOSCO) in Nova Scotia. Upon returning to Ontario, he worked for SKF and finally Union Carbide. Don enjoyed a fulfilling life as a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed a variety of activities including golfing, curling, reading, playing bridge and travelling to Europe.
A Celebration of Life on will be held on June 12th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Donalda Club, 12 Bushbury Drive, Toronto.
If desired, donations may be given in Donald’s memory to the University of Toronto Robarts Library or the Toronto Public Library.
