In memory of

Donald George Korba

September 24, 1931 -  August 3, 2020

Donald George Korba born September 24th, 1931 passed away on August 3rd, 2020 of natural causes. Preceded in death by his wife Freda Korba, devoted father of Michael, Katy and Tim, Father in law to Dana Korba, loving grandfather of Liam, Cole, Charlotte, Sophia, Harrison and Charles Korba. Former Geologist and teacher at Birchmount Park Collegiate. Don was born and raised in East Selkirk, Manitoba, later moved to Simcoe, Ontario and then eventually raised a family in Scarborough, ON. Don excelled at everything he tried and put extreme dedication into whatever that was. During his time teaching Don would arrive early at his beloved school BPCI every day and stay late every day to help any student that needed extra help regardless if they were in his class. Many former students have recalled him as one of their favourites.
Don had a huge passion for the outdoors and his canoe trips to Temagami, ON were among his favourite memories. Don also was an expert wood worker and would make cradles for almost every child born on both sides of the family putting hundreds of hours into each one to make them perfect.
Don was as many described a quiet man gentle and compassionate who always thought of others before himself. He led his life that everyone should. We have lost a real great mind and a great role model.
We will miss you Dad / Dede.
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at The Elgin Mills Funeral Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dear Uncle Don, you will be missed by so many. I have such fond memories of you and your moments together. You were always so sweet and kind, patient and funny. You never tired of my ridiculous questions and always answered me with a wink and a smile. Your pipe ever present in our conversations. I can still see you raising your eyebrows over your spectacles and smell the fascinating scent of your tobacco that always seemed to follow you. I also remember thinking you were a genius.
Thank you for the extraordinary cradle you made for my mom when I was born. It remains a permanent fixture In our home. It’s truly beautiful. And thank you for the intricate wooden cross-hatched mirror you made for me as a gift. It continues to hang in my home. But most of all thank you for leaving a legacy of kindness. You were a unique and wonderful man and I’m so proud to have been welcomed into your arms every time I saw you.
Rest In Peace dear Uncle. Give Auntie Freda and Nana & Papa a big hug for me.
Love, Joanna ♥️

You always spoke so highly of your dad, Katy. Liam and Cole adored him and he was a great role model for them as they have grown up. You have so many wonderful memories to cherish forever. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
