In memory of

劉德強先生 Dennis Tak Keung Lau

March 20, 1964 -  October 8, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Tak Keung Lau on October 8, 2025 at the age of 61. Dennis was born on March 20, 1964 in Hong Kong, China to Wai Fong Yang and Man San Lou.

Dennis was a loving, kind and dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and co-worker. While his time on earth may feel short, it is not the number of years that define his life but the depth of the love given and the lives touched along the way. He touched many.

Dennis was, first and above all, a kind man. The kind of person that made you feel seen. Whether it was through a warm smile, a corny joke, a helping hand or just the way he listened, he had a gift for making people feel valued.

He didn’t need the spotlight, he was often happiest behind the scenes, doing good without expecting credit. He was steady, loyal, and generous in ways that most people only aspire to be.

To his family, he was a rock. He showed love not only in words, but in everyday actions. He loved deeply and without condition. To his friends, he was loyal companion. He was always ready to lend an ear, share a laugh, tell a joke or offer honest advice.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.

He is survived by his children, Alicia, Lauren, Nolan and wife Helen Woo.

Helen, Lauren, Alli, and Nolan: We are shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. We have been neighbors for decades. Dennis was always a friendly and helpful guy who would always volunteer to help anyone in the neighborhood. He was always mucking around the property to make it pristine, a never ending amount of energy with the shovel or the landscaping. A loss too soon but a family to carry on his amazing presence.

It breaks my heart to see you go brother. I will always remember and cherish your friendship, a person truly worth looking up to. Although painful to see you go, do so knowing you achieved more on this earth than most. You have always been a good husband and a very proud father, an accomplishment we all strive to achieve. We will miss you.
Rest in Peace

I have known Dennis since grade 7 at Woodfield School, and he was always such a kind, genuine, and wonderful friend. From our adventures in Toronto in our late teens to reconnecting a few years ago at the 100th centenary of Danforth Tech, we shared so many great times through our youth. I’m very sorry we didn’t have more time to reconnect, but I will always treasure the warmth, kindness, and friendship Dennis brought into my life.
