In memory of

Demetre Chalkidis

June 20, 1967 -  January 11, 2023

Demetre passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 with his devoted wife at his side.
Beloved husband to Artemis, proud and adoring father to Harry and JP.
Cherished youngest child of the late Charalambos and Ourania Chalkidis, and brother to Soraya (Efstathios), the late Dimitraki and Christine. Fun loving uncle to Savvas (Andrea), Efrosini, Ourania (Stavros) and Harry (Meaghan), and many great nieces and nephews. Doting Godfather to Elias, Larry, Emilia and Madelyn.
Demetre (lovingly known as “Big Jim”) was larger than life, always smiling, laughing and eager to help those around him in his kind and gentle manner. His early love of trains and mechanical things led him to a long and fulfilling career as a train engineer. Demetre loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing with his father and friends all over Ontario and the US, and more recently sharing his love of fishing with his boys who were the pride of his life. When he wasn’t spending time outdoors, he could be found tinkering around in his garage fixing things big and small, never sitting still and always looking for ways to improve things.
He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his family. Weekends and holidays were spent travelling and taking road trips looking for adventure and making cherished memories along the way.
He will be missed dearly and deeply, his loving and caring ways will always be remembered by everyone who met this gentle giant. He will always be our number 1.
May his memory be eternal.
