In memory of

鍾國恩 David Kwok-Yan Chung

July 25, 1960 -  June 27, 2018

David Chung passed away peacefully on June 27, 2018 at the age of 57 after battling lung cancer for 4.5 years.

David was born on July 25, 1960 in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. At the age of 15, he left his homeland as a refugee following the end of the Vietnam War and was saved at sea by a Taiwanese cargo ship. He lived in Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong before reuniting with his family in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 20. It was in Calgary where he met Victoria. On June 24 1987, they married in Toronto and raised three daughters, who were the most important part of his life.

David was a devoted father, a wine connoisseur and an avid golfer. He loved cooking for others and teaching those around him about food and wine (especially wine). He was a great conversationalist and an entertainer who loved bringing together family and friends. He was a leader and a fighter who had endured many hardships in his life with a determined "can-do" attitude, reminding himself and others to "never give up". He was a religious man and was involved in church activities, where he spoke about his perseverance and God's guidance through his journey with cancer and in life. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

A visitation is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and is followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6th at the Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centre located on 1591 Elgin Mills Road East (view Funeral Details below).

In lieu of flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at the funeral where proceeds will be donated to North York General Hospital.
