Uncle and great uncle to many

Born in Toronto October 11, 1931. Dad loved his family and reveled in their presence. Working his whole life in advertising as a writer and creative director he loved creating ideas to sell products. Dad had many hobbies and interests which he shared with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. He was incredibly inquisitive his whole life and always had a new project on the go. He loved the arts and science and as a writer he read extensively. Some of his many hobbies included, gardening, music (in his 70s he built his own full size xylophone in the basement) sailing, writing poetry, painting and drawing, archery, making rock sculptures, cooking and his all time favourite hobby making his home made wine. In retirement Dad and Mom traveled in their camper van and spent time in Florida.

Dad had a great sense of humour and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all. The stories are many and varied. As one of his grandsons pointed out there are not enough words.

In lieu flowers and donations, well wishes to the family would be appreciated.

Grandpa always made you feel like a pretty important person. No matter what age we were or what we were talking about he was sincerely interested in hearing every word you had so say. His many interests and talents were amazing and his sense of humour was in tact everyday of his life. He was a role model for his family, and will be fondly thought of often by his Grandkids.

We are very saddened about the loss of Dave. He was a true gentleman. His many interest and stories over the years were entertaining. We always enjoyed our visits with him and Elsie. He will truly be missed.
Love to all the family

Grandad was one of the kindest, gentless., and unique souls, anyone has ever met.
His love for family knew no bounds.
His sharp mind and inextinginshable creativity made for some of the greatest games and times we had as children.
He was something different for each life he touched, and always left you off a better person for only chatting with him.
I will miss the twinkle he would get in his eyes when he saw family, his eyes would lite up as you entered the room revealing a kid at the candy store expression, I remember that as a child, and saw it again when he met my children.
Be at peace Grandpa. We love you, you know all the answers now.

Uncle Dave,

I remember when I was young sitting and listen with my cousin to you telling stories while smoking your pipe. Visiting you and Aunt Elsie In Richmond Hill and even in Florida.

Rest In Peace.

So sad to hear. I remember Mr. Bashford as the librarian in Whitevale when the library was only open on Saturdays. He helped instill a love of books and reading that I still enjoy today. RIP Mr. Bashford.
