In memory of

David Arthur John Ives

June 9, 1929 -  January 21, 2018

Born and educated in the U.K. David achieved his PhD in Chemistry and Fellowship of Sciences at the University of London. He was very close with his parents - David Sr. and Constance (Connie) and his Aunt Winnie, Uncle Stanley and cousins Bill, Jim, Margaret, Anne and Judy.

David moved to Halifax, NS for work in the 1950’s. He had three children: Caroline, Andrew and Elizabeth. He moved to Sarnia and then to Toronto where he remained for most of his life. He worked at Connaught Laboratories (later Mergeron) for decades.

He married his beloved wife (the late) Carol (Johnston) Ives in 1976 and became the step father to Kelly and Dawn Michelle Fisher.

He was Grandfather to: Nicholas and Christopher Green, Connor and Ethan Ives, Laura, Matt, Emily and Lizzie Bitze. And father in law to Garry, Alexa and Chris.

David and Carol enjoyed traveling, reading, music, art, theatre, film and baseball. They spent a lot of their time outside work with their family and their many friends. We all treasure those memories.

David was a kind and gentle man with many skills and interests. He was very well read and could converse intelligently on many many subjects. He was beloved by many and will be missed.

We take solace that he and Carol are now together in the hereafter.

Wife Carol met a gem of a partner when she married David. I so enjoyed our times together when they invited me to join them on their West Coast trips. Happy memorable times!

I have nothing but loving memories of kind, sweet, funny David and Carol and miss their visits with our family very much. David was one of my father's best friends. They were colleagues at Connaught Laboratories, even roommates for a time, and dad even lived part-time with David and Carol due to his long commute home. They were like family.

We think of them with a lot of love in our hearts.
