In memory of

Dave Walker

August 10, 1951 -  July 4, 2024

Dave passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 4, 2024. He is survived by his wife Lynne, children Lisa (Ron) and Scott (Meaghan), and grandson Alex. He is also survived by his three younger siblings Dianne, Cathy and Peter and pre-deceased by his parents Sam and Joanne.

He will be remembered for his charismatic, larger than life personality. Dave lived life on his own terms, embracing every opportunity for fun and adventure. He “lived life to the fullest” each day and shared joy with everyone he met. His passions included travelling, golf, cooking, wine and gardening.
A gifted athlete, Dave was an accomplished competitive curler, fastball player and golfer. He earned the nickname “Commish” as the founder and organizer of Watson’s Springfest Golf Tournament which was an annual celebration of golf and friendship for more than 25 years. The tournament was attended by up to 145 golfers, each of whom Dave considered a friend.

Dave has been described as one of the friendliest people that one could meet and had a rare ability to make friends. He was special to so many people. If someone he knew needed help, Dave would jump in to do what he could without hesitation. One of the ways he took care of others was by cooking for them. He took pride in creating delicious meals for all to enjoy.

Dave has left behind many broken hearts.

A celebration of life will be held on July 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., guest will begin to be received at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON. The celebration will continue at a family residence in Scarborough immediately following the service.

Dave brought so many of us together at Canandaigua over the years for spring golf and good times. He was always close by when the ribs were done and there was a drink to share.

My deepest condolences. Sam was our room-mate at Bristol Harbor. And, he would bore the hell out of us talking about how great his son was!

Fortunate to have shared time with Dave. He was a beautiful person.

I had the great fortune to both curl and gold with Dave. We played in the Olympic Playdowns across Canada in 1997 and remained close golfing buddies which included annual visits for many years by Dave and Wrench to Westmount and of course Springfest where we played Sunday with Rico and “the Vernon Blade” .
No one I know enjoyed having fun more and he seemed to love everyday to its fullest.
I miss him already but know the memories with the commish and friends will remain forever with me.
