Despite a courageous battle, surrounded by family at Scarborough General Hospital, Dave left us quietly on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 . Loving husband of 39 years to Diane (Beck), cherished father of Lisa (Tris), Jeffrey and wife Amanda (Cornwall), devoted grandfather to Lauren (Shea) and Jaiden (Kavanagh). Adored by pets Cat and Mocha-Lou-Who and joyfully reunited with his faithful companion of 17 years Necco and his beloved rescue cat, Forrest. Predeceased by father Clarence Kavanagh, mother-in-law Elaine Beck and brother-in-law Mike Dutka. Deeply missed by mother Julia Kavanagh, father-in-law Robert Beck and many brothers and sisters: Rosemary Farrell (Kevin), Karen Kavanagh, Michael Kavanagh, Jimmy Kavanagh, Philip Kavanagh, Christine Bigelow (Rick), Bobby Kavanagh (Kim), Susan Round (Gary), Linda DeLuca (Joe), David Beck (Mickey) and Robbie Beck, as well as, over 30 much loved nieces and nephews. Loyal friend to most who met him, Dave had a genuine love of life with a generous, sensitive spirit. Truly young at heart in both body and spirit, he could often be found surrounded by an adoring group of small children and animals. A gifted artist and avid music lover; words cannot adequately express the profound sorrow felt by his loss or the deep sense of gratitude and joy for having loved him and have been loved by him. It is with the most intense heartache we say good-bye, but with great anticipation we look forward to once again being reunited with our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and overall best friend – Dave.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that a donation be made in Dave's honour to an organization which remained very dear to his heart – CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health).

A heartfelt thanks, and deep debt of gratitude to the medical staff at Scarborough General Hospital's ICU, in particular Dr. Howard Claskey for his tireless dedication, compassion and care.
