In memory of

Daniel Derek Cranham

February 15, 1956 -  November 17, 2017

Beloved father of Josh, Jake and Hannah, dear friend of Lauren.

Dan was born in Oshawa and spent most of his childhood growing up in Etobicoke. He attended Kipling Collegiate High School where he was a track athlete and a wrestling star. Dan was a talented and passionate piano player and he loved nothing more than sitting for hours playing and learning new songs by ear. Dan earned a B.A. and an M.B.A. from York University and took those degrees, along with his innate ability to connect with people, to the pharmaceutical industry. He had an illustrious career which culminated in a position as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Solvay Pharmaceuticals.

We will all miss his wit, his kindness and his compassion for people especially for those who were less fortunate than him. No matter what life threw at Dan he was able to pick himself back up and carry on right up until the end when one more obstacle simply proved too much for him to overcome. His children were his world and he was so very proud of each of them. Josh, Jake, Hannah and his many friends will hold his memory dear to their hearts.

Please join us in celebrating Dan's life on Wednesday, November 22 and Thursday, November 23.

If you would like to make a donation to help those in need in Dan's memory please click on the donations link below. We also know that Dan would love it if the next time you see a homeless person on the street you stop, say a few kind words, perhaps bring them a cup of coffee or a slice of pizza and give them some money to directly help someone so desparately in need.

We worked with Dan to build a company which had a very positive impact on many people largely due to Dan's work ethic and personality. He will be remembered.

Dan was a friend and a mentor to me early in my career. He had an incredible ability to help one work through their ideas or obstacles with silence, a few well placed questions and ultimately, unwavering support. Although it had been too many years since we last spoke, some of the happiest and most memorable moments of my life were spent in Dan's company. Too many to tell, but one that stands out was a relatively late night at a company meeting, where a large group of us in the lobby had caught the attention of hotel security. We decided to move into an empty meeting room to continue our evening and we noticed Dan hadn't followed. For a few minutes we discussed whether we should shut it down. After all, Dan was one of our senior managers and he appeared to have called it a night. And just as we were about to leave, the door swung open and Dan was back, pushing a piano.
