In memory of

D. Suzane Madeline Toy

April 21, 1933 -  January 21, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Sue passed away peacefully at age 84 on January 21, 2018 with her family by her side. Loving wife of Kenneth for more than 60 years. Devoted mother of twin daughters Sharon (Adrian) and Darlene (Michael). Cherished grandmother of Tara, Connor, Matthew and Evan. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Pearl and Shirley and her nieces and nephews Sandra, Danny, Craig, Randy, Kim and Ross. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

Sue was loved by everyone and we have been blessed to have had her in our lives. Sue was Ken’s best friend. Together they danced, camped, sailed, traveled and held many parties at their home for family and friends over the years. Sue was an avid euchre player and loved trips to the casino. She enjoyed knitting and baking and her shortbread was always something to look forward to. She was fiercely proud of her grandchildren and would tell anyone who would listen about their latest accomplishments.

We express our deepest gratitude to the palliative care team at Scarborough General Hospital, especially Dr. Abdulhussein, Scott Wisner, and nurses Joy, Shannon, and Cindy. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Scarborough Hospital Foundation (srhfoundation.ca) would be appreciated.

Family and friends will be received at the Pine Hills Funeral Centre at 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Friday, January 26th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the Chapel on Saturday, January 27th at 3:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Online condolences may be made at www.etouch.ca

On Mon. Jan. 1 when members met at the sailing club to bring in the New Year, Sue and Ken and others were already there when I arrived at 11:15am. The table was already set up and Sue’s famous “nog” was ready for tasting, as Sue had done for many years.
We had our usual chat about nothing and everything and as usual, we were the last to leave the building that afternoon. In the parking lot, I leaned down to the car window to kiss Sue goodbye, Sue said to me “I really hope to see you on Friday”. On Jan. 4, Sue sent me an email saying that they will not be able to make it to cards “this week”.
For the past 6-7 years, we met at the club every Friday evening in the winter months to play Euchre. Sue and her euchre partner George, were virtually unbeatable, many tried but not much luck! I loved to lose to Sue and hear her announcement ‘GAAAAAME’ 5 to 7+ times each night!!
In the non winter months, Fridays were sailing race nights again with Sue running the BBQ activities and supplying the deserts.
Spending time with Sue and Ken every Friday evening for many years was one of the GREAT joys of my life!!
Sue, I will miss you FOREVER!!
Rick M.
