In memory of

D. George Wright

July 28, 1931 -  August 8, 2016

Peacefully passed away at the Sunnybrook Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Monday August 8, 2016 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Shirley for 54 years. Devoted father of Karen (Edward), Laurie and Douglas (Heather). Cherished grandfather of Jaimie, Kenzie and Cooper. George spent 37 years with the Toronto Fire Department retiring as a District Fire Chief. George was an avid sportsman who loved playing hockey, slo-pitch, golf, skiing, fishing and hunting. During his retirement, he spent most of his time at the cottage in the summer and Mexico in the winter. Special thanks to our family and friends for all of their caring support over the past few years as well as to the CCAC support group and the doctors and nurses at the Odette Cancer Centre. A Celebration of life will take place at PINE HILLS FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Tuesday August 16, 2016 from 11am until time of service at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.

To Shirley, Laurie, Doug & Heather, Cooper, Jaimie & Kenzie,

Sending my deepest condolences to all of you. Today there is a giant George shaped hole in the world. He was such an amazing person and I will miss him too. Stay close to each other and support one another. I am so thankful for the imprint he made on my life. I'm certain he touched many hearts in his journey through life. You must be so very proud of him. Accept the love that friends and family will offer you as you navigate through this tough time. Your family is loved by many.
