In memory of

黃蕭麗容太夫人 Cynthia Lai-Yung Wong

In Loving Memory of Cynthia Lai Yung Wong

Cynthia Wong, a woman of quiet strength and joyful generosity, passed away on July 25, 2025. She lived a life full of courage, with deep devotion to those she loved. She was predeceased by her husband, Winston, and together they built a legacy anchored in family, kindness, and perseverance.

Cynthia will be deeply missed by her daughter Ada (Ken) and son Arnold (Laurie), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Lindsey (Sean), Logan, Ewen, Leah, and Zico. She is survived by her brother Andy (Fanny), and nieces Angelina and Amanda, who held a special place in her heart.

Born in China, Cynthia made the courageous decision to move to Hong Kong in search of opportunity, where she met the love of her life, Winston. Together, they dreamed of a better future and bravely immigrated to Canada in 1974 with their young family, planting new roots in a land full of promise.

Known for her vibrant energy and endless curiosity, Cynthia taught generations of family members to play mah jong, filling rooms with laughter and friendly competition. She found serenity in her garden, nurturing tomatoes and wintermelons that flourished under her care. A talented seamstress, she stitched clothes with hands full of patience and heart.

Cynthia determinedly learned to drive in her thirties when her employer moved to the north end of Toronto. Her strength, both quiet and fierce, was evident in moments like these. She was an excellent cook, with her fragrant and flavourful stir-fries the highlight of many family gatherings.

Cynthia loved her family and she will forever live in our memories.

[Following the Interment, all are invited to join the family for a traditional Chinese lunch honouring Cynthia.

For those considering an alternate to flowers, a donation to St. Michael’s Hospital would recognise Cynthia’s spirit of care and compassion.]
