In memory of
Rev. Dr. Corville Ellsworth Peters
May 27, 1955 -
October 11, 2023
On Wednesday, October 11th, Corville went to be with the Lord. Corville leaves behind his loving wife Martha and his daughter Kalesha. He also leaves behind his sisters Nelsie (Stephen), Elaine (Barry), Jennifer and Carole; brothers Gosford, David, Kersley and Alfonso; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his mother Sarah, father Michael, sister Rica and brother Lloyd.
His brother, Lloyd, introduced him to what would become his career in Insurance Sales, and Corville later opened his own Insurance company Dothan Insurance. He thrived in the in his business because of his passion and love for helping people. When Corville accepted the Lord he began his journey of evangelism, study and ministry. He had an unquenchable passion to introduce people to the love and power of the cross of Jesus, and he ensured that Jesus was at the centre of every interaction he had. Whether in youth ministry as a sponsor, chaplain ministry at Syl Apps Youth Detention Centre or as a deacon in his home church, Corville's drive to live a life that reflected Jesus in every way was inspiring to those around him.
In 2003, he was invited to participate in a nightly evangelistic call-in program called Nite Lite Live and he was hooked. It provided him the outlet that would allow him to reach people for Jesus who were lost and hurting. When Nite Lite Live came to an end, after much prayer, Corville started AT THE CROSS Live. This ministry was dedicated to encouraging christians in their faith, ministering to people who were hurting and providing space for people to come to know Jesus. This was his greatest passion and the driving force behind everything that he did. In 2020, AT THE CROSS Live moved from a call in program to more of an online forum using Facebook, Youtube and Church Online.
Along with his passion for Jesus, Corville loved his family and was the person who always called, kept in touch and attended every family function. If there was a family gathering, he never missed it, even he was tired or unwell. Nothing was more important than spending time, being around and supporting his family. We are forever thankful for the time that Corville had with us and while we are sad that we no longer have him with us, we know that he is in heaven with the Lord he loved.
