Clara Louie, of Toronto, was called to be with the Lord on July 7, 2016 at North York General Hospital, Toronto after a short and sudden illness. She was 88. She was born in Shanghai in 1927 and graduated from the University of Shanghai with a degree in Education in 1949. She was also an accomplished soprano and performed in multiple concerts during her university years.

In 1952 she married John Louie, and together they had 3 sons. Clara was an elementary and middle school educator in Hong Kong. She retired from her long career as a Vice Principal. In addition to pursuing her own career, she was very supportive to her husband and a loving mother to her children.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her graceful personality, kindness and generosity. Clara is survived by her sons, John Jr, Ben and Ted, and was predeceased by her husband, John.

Funeral service will be held at York Cemetery & Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto at 1:30pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Clara’s name to the “T.H. Chan Memorial Chinese School” (of Toronto Chinese United Church).
