In memory of

Chung-Siong Sun - 孫中松先生安息

December 24, 1933 -  March 5, 2024

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father Chung-Siong Sun on March 5th at the age of 90 in Mississauga, Ontario.
He will be dearly missed by his sons, Phil, Tom & Mark, stepdaughter Amy, daughters-in-law Sue, Audrey & Grace, grandchildren Ian, Marianne, Rachel, Christopher, Trevor, Kelvin, Melody, Daniel & Keira, and his brothers and sisters.

Our father was a loyal family man with a strong sense of pride. He was never afraid of hard work and always had a commitment to helping his family and friends succeed. His faith was especially important to him. He was elected as an Elder at his Taiwanese Church and served for several years. He also had a great passion for fishing, traveling, and a love of food. Although sometimes he had a bit too much love for food as his waistline can attest.

He was born in Chiayi City, located in the southwestern part of Taiwan on December 24th, 1933. He was raised in a devoted Christian family and grew up with 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is the 2nd son and 3rd child of Mr. Ming Li Sun and Mrs. Min Yu Li. Growing up in Chiayi City, he was an active youth member of the Chiayi East District Presbyterian Church. In 1955, he graduated from the Taichung Agriculture University with a Major in Forestry. After graduation, he served two years in Taiwan’s Armed Forces followed by employment at the Economic Agriculture Farm in Douliu, a town just north of Chiayi City. During this time, he met Yeh Shi Yuan from Douliu and began a courtship. A couple of years later, he married Yeh Shi who also shared the Christian faith.

With the support and encouragement from his eldest brother Jack, he elected to immigrate the family to Canada in 1973. He placed his faith in God that Canada would provide prosperity and opportunities to his family. Settling in Toronto, his first job had him commuting almost 4 hours daily from Toronto to Fort Erie. He was committed to making it work and sacrificed on several ends to ensure his success in Canada. Eventually he secured a local job in Toronto with Garrett Aviation which later became Honeywell Aerospace.

In 1987 he lost his first wife Yeh Shi after a long battle with cancer. Yeh Shi now rests in peace with the Lord. His faith was very important to him and in 1991 met Shu Cheng who was also widowed and a Christian. Over time they formed a love for each other and eventually married.

After more than 20 years of service with Honeywell Aerospace, he retired in 1998 as an Aerospace Instrumentation Technician for military tanks and jet fighters.
During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, spending time with family & friends and teaching himself new software applications like Photoshop to create travel books and videos. He also continued to be a devout Christian and focused on strengthening his Christian faith.

After recent years of battling many health ailments, on March 5th at 10:30am in the morning, Chung quietly and peacefully passed away. Before his passing, he reflected on how appreciative and happy he was for his family and his many friends throughout his 90 years. He was proud to have raised 3 successful sons, gained three wonderful daughters in laws, grateful for a wonderful stepdaughter in Amy, and to have many grandchildren. He felt he lived a happy and successful life and was ready to finish his journey and meet his Creator.

“I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith,
henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.”
II Timothy 4:7-8

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Losing a father can shake one's faith in God.
