Christine "Chris" Eaton
March 7, 1932 -
August 8, 2019
Christine Zofia Eaton, 87, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2019 with loved ones by her side.
She was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Karolina Chowaniec, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from Western Technical-Commercial School. She later worked at the Queensway Hospital as an Admitting Clerk, where she developed close life-long friendships with nurses and other clerical workers.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like reading, listening to music, watching TV (especially Coronation Street and the NY Yankees), chatting on the phone, visiting with friends and family, spending time at her cottage, and teaching her grandchildren. She also loved shopping and keeping her mind active through crosswords, jumbles and Sudoku puzzles.
Chris was an irresistibly engaging conversationalist who will be remembered for her quick wit, compassionate heart, wealth of knowledge, and supportive nature.
She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend to many.
She is survived by her children: Andrew Eaton (Jennie Jones), Alan Eaton, Susan Saba (Raymond), and Linda Bond (Stephen); her grandchildren: Alice Jones Eaton, Robin Jones Eaton, Joseph Saba, Christopher Saba (Laura), Jacquelyn Saba (Peter), Michael Saba (Christine), Lauren Esquivel Yorke, and Matthew Esquivel; her great grandson: Charles Saba; her brother-in-law: Marino (Min) Basadur; her nephews: Tim Basadur (Viv), Steve Basadur (Liuba, Tim Jr.), Bob Basadur (Leighan, Dougie, Molly); her sister-in-law: Joan Eaton; her niece: MarySue Mueller (Ralph); and her extended family: Raymond Saba (Rita, Marcus, Andre), Vivienne Saba Gesa (John, Dilana), and Nick Saba (Maria, Christina, Michael).
She was predeceased by her spouse, Alan Eaton, both parents, her younger sister Eleanor, younger brother Leonard, and her pet cat Willy.
The Funeral Service and Reception will be held on Thursday, August 15th from 12pm to 3pm at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre in Mississauga. Visitation will be from 11am to the time of the service.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home, and in lieu of flowers donations are welcome to the Dorothy Ley Hospice for all their care and support they provided for our loving mother.
