In memory of

Christina Ellen Clokie

September 12, 1939 -  May 23, 2024

Christina Ellen Clokie (Nee: Douglas)

With the sun shinning down on her, Christina passed away surrounded by her loving family on the afternoon of Thursday May 23, 2024. Proud mother to Cameron and Fraser (Rhonda) and grandmother to Braden, Duncan, Trevor, Kayla and Colin. Predeceased by her husband Al. Chris will be lovingly remembered by her brother Iain (Janie) and her nephews Andrew and Scott as well as loving partner Alf and the entire Warll family. She will be sadly missed by many other family members and friends.

She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her founding work with Centennial Infant and Child Centre, presence on the Humewood Home Board of Directors, as well as her volunteering work with Meals on Wheels and the Aurora Senior Centre. Well known for her generosity and love of entertaining, there was nothing Chris enjoyed more than spending time with family and friends at her Island on Georgian Bay.

A heartfelt thank you to Doctor Anglin, Dr. So, Vidhi and the rest of the Southlake Hospital team for all their support and care over the past 9 months.

A Celebration of Chris’ life will be held on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, at 10am in the Gathering Hall of Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road (East gate entrance). If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southlake Regional Cancer Centre or the Georgian Bay Land trust in honour of Chris would be appreciated by the family. Memories and condolences can be left on the Mount Pleasant website at www.etouch.ca.

Chris and Al invited us to Lake Joseph with our British Friends, as Iain and Janie Douglas had suggested it. It was so wonderful and the hospitality incredible. Then in later years, Chris had the island in the Georgian Bay and once again we went with Iain and Janie to visit, my husband Jean was alive then. Hospitality was Chris’s middle name. We had a fantastic time. You will be missed Chris but the memories will live on in my heart.

Remember her love of life even in illness. She skied as long as she could even if only 2-3 runs. Visits to our place for apres ski always included a 'pico sour" or two. Alf and family accept Julie and my condolences.

Chris and I were part of a group known as the Toronto Ladies Ski Club which later became the "I Love to Ski Club" She was always so full of fun and energy and a great hostess to a group of us at the cottage on Lake Joseph and patient boat driver for water skiing. Chris often talked proudly about her sons as they made their way through dentistry at McGill. I missed those times together when we moved to Victoria in 1996 but have happy memories of Chris . My sympathy goes to the family for your loss.
