Judy - our dearly loved mom, wife, sister, auntie, and friend - passed peacefully surrounded by her family on May 27th.
She was a special lady who dedicated her gifts to creating the most beautiful, joyful life for everyone around her. A constant source of comfort, guidance, and inspiration for her family and friends, her generous wisdom was as renowned as her elegant but bold and colorful style. Judy's resourcefulness, adaptability, and skills in winning the admiration and warmth of all who meet her allowed her to nurture a family of five to thrive across four countries, vastly different contexts, and in each different stage of our lives.
Fighting her second battle with cancer in the last year of her life, Judy's grace, grit, and endless love for her family helped us through the hardest experience we have ever faced. Judy remained dignified but playful, dropping the occasional zinger of a joke. Our home continued to be as full of laughter, silliness, music, and good memories as it was full of meaningful but hard conversations, grief, and caring for each other.
As dear friends and family who have been on this journey with Judy and our family, we thank you for all the joy and love you have added to our life. We invite you to join us for her memorial service, Buddhist ceremony, and cremation to honor Judy.
In lieu of flowers and in accordance with Judy's wishes, memorial donations may be made to either of the following organizations.
1. Southlake Regional Health Center's Palliative Care Program worked closely with the Cancer Center to make our mom feel completely taken care of throughout her illness. Judy completely trusted her team to help her make decisions in line with her values and goals. Their skillful, compassionate guidance and reassurance allowed our mom to live and pass peacefully. Should you choose to donate here, please select “Palliative Care Program” under “Gift Designation". LINK: https://give.southlake.ca/site/Donation2?df_id=3103&3103.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T
2. Fo Guang Shan Temple has been an integral part of the Yau family for decades. As a Buddhist, Judy wanted to give back to the community that has lent her so much spiritual support through the challenges of life. LINK: https://www.fgs.ca/donations
