In memory of

Chin-Ying Chan

December 4, 1932 -  May 27, 2023

Dr. Edwin Chin-Ying Chan, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023 in Toronto, with his son nearby. Born in Guangzhou province, China, on December 4, 1932, Dr. Chan moved briefly to Macau during the second World War, eventually settling back in Hong Kong after the war. There, he attended Wan Yan College and was eventually accepted to Hong Kong University to study medicine. In 1962, he married Winnie, and the two of them emigrated to Canada in 1968. After completing his speciality in Radiology at the University of Western Ontario, Michael was born in London, Ontario. The family eventually settled in Lindsay, Ontario, in 1981. Dr. Chan worked as a Radiologist at Ross Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 2010. He was a talented, self-taught watercolour painter, and enjoyed traveling, tennis, great food, and terrible jokes. His kind heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed by his son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Victoria, and grandson, Gus. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at York Cemetery in Toronto on June 3, 2023. Visitation from 9-10am, memorial service at 10am, followed by lunch nearby. Donations in his memory can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

We extend our sympathy to Michael and family
The Chana were neighbours in Lindsay as well we worked at the Ross. In later years I was manager of DI so had a close working relationship with him
He was always a kind man with concern shown for staff and patients. He and Winnie were very supportive to our family when a family tragedy occurred and got that we are thankful
TIP Dr Chan job well done

Forever grateful to have such a wonderful uncle! Kind, smart & humorous - in your own very special way :) Thank you so much for the laughter, happy times and everything since I was a little girl … all the way till the last week (our mahjong fun) of your amazing life! I will forever treasure the gift of YOU. Wholeheartedly, I hope to have the privilege to spend time with you and Auntie Winnie again one day up there! Rest in peace. Love, Berenice & MaJohn :)
