In memory of

Charmaine Elaine Segree

September 18, 1954 -  April 7, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Charmaine Segree (nee Cooper) announces that she passed away peacefully at St Michael's hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on April 7, 2023 after a long illness.

Born on September 18, 1954 in Westmoreland, Jamaica, Charmaine was the fourth child of Edward Samuel Cooper and Ruth Cooper. She is survived by her husband Owen Segree, her sons Akeem Segree and Jamaal Segree, and her daughter Michelle Maragh, son in law Christopher MacDonald and grand-daughter Moy MacDonald. She is also survived by her five sisters and three brothers and their families located in Jamaica, the USA, and Toronto.

In 1991 Charmaine and her family emigrated to Canada from her beloved Jamaica. She worked hard to support her family in building their lives together in Canada. She was a nurse and public health nurse who served Toronto with pride as she worked to make sure that people under her care were treated with dignity and respect.

Charmaine was so full of life and was adored by her family. She loved hosting family and friends on special occasions and was the ultimate hostess. During her long illness she held strong to her faith and her love of family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care team at St Michael's hospital and Doctor Johnathan Ailon for their support and compassion.

Charmaine will be laid to rest in Toronto with a celebration of life at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre on Thursday April 20, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00. The service will start at 11:00 and will be followed by internment and a reception at Pine Hills. To celebrate Charmaine’s love of colour please wear something purple, or with colour.

In lieu of donations the family welcomes contributions to Lupus Canada.
