October 16, 1938 -  September 21, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearest Mother Dr. Catherine Anwar Ujager. She was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren when she breathed her last at approximately 5:15 am on September 21, 2019 (Saturday), in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada.

Life: Dr. Catherine Anwar Ujager was born in 1938 in Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan. Dr. Catherine received her early education from St. Mary’s School and Nazareth College and later did her MBBS from Liaquat Medical College, Jamshoro, Hyderabad. She proceeded to England to pursue higher studies. There, she got married to an eye-specialist, Dr. Anwar Masih Ujager, in 1968.

Service: In the early 1970's both husband and wife returned to Pakistan with the mission to serve the poor and underprivileged people of Northwest frontier province. Dr. Catherine worked alongside her husband as a Physician for women and

children at the Christian Mission Hospital, Peshawar, till 2000. She supported women’s counseling and was a great advocate for female education. She also worked to bring awareness among women for health care, medical and self-reliance. She also served as a Member of Provincial Assembly NWFP during the mid-1980s and did exceptional work for the welfare and uplift of women.

Wife: Dr. Catherine was an amazing wife and a great force behind our father. She supported him in his personnel and professional life. She was his loving friend, strength and cheerleader.

Mother: Dr. Catherine was a kind, caring and loving mother. She not only supported all our artistic interests but encouraged us to reach for the stars. She encouraged and taught us to be a strong, resilient women who could achieve anything. She planted seeds of strong faith in us and nurtured those by living a true Christian life, to be kind, respectful and selfless.

Grandmother: Dr. Catherine loved her grandkids and they all adored her. She would say that when I look at my grandkids, I get the same satisfaction that a farmer gets when looking at his beautiful green field. She enjoyed playing with them and taught them great life skills such as honesty, hard work and humility.

Friend: Dr. Catherine was an extraordinary friend to many people. She had a unique gift of making people feel special. She was a true friend who would help her friends at any time of the day.

Mummy we love you and will miss you dearly!!
