August 3, 1935 -  December 2, 2021

McDIARMID (nee Armour), Carol Roxanne
August 3, 1935 – December 2, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Roxanne McDiarmid after a lengthy illness. Wife and best friend of Bruce McDiarmid for over 64 years. Devoted and adored mother of Kirk McDiarmid, Jennifer Ayotte (Andy) and the late Karen McDiarmid. Cherished Grandma of Michael (Laura) and Stephanie. Loved GG of Elise. Predeceased by her parents Irene and Wallace Armour. Loved sister of Adrianne Taylor (Barry (predeceased)) and Aunt to Steve (Val), Lisa (Murray) and Jonathan (Sandy). Roxanne will be greatly missed by her family, extended family, lifelong friend Kathleen and friends old and new.

Born in London, Ontario, Roxanne lived in Toronto and attended Baron Renfrew PS/Armour Heights PS (where she met Bruce) and Havergal College. She went on to Teachers College and had a lengthy career as an elementary teacher with the North York Board of Education. While teaching full time and raising their children, Roxanne completed her BA and Honours BA at York. In addition, she completed her Master of Education and Doctor of Education at UofT. Roxanne and Bruce were avid sailors and have extensively travelled the world together. When not travelling Roxanne wrote a book on education, enjoyed family times, social gatherings, long walks and reading. She has left an indelible imprint on all of our lives and she will be forever missed.

A special thank you to Shelley PSW, Dr. Luces, Sondra (NP), nurse Muniba, the Palliative Care Team and VIVA staff.

Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place on April 23, 2022.

If desired, donations may be made to Epilepsy Toronto, Abilities Centre, RS McLaughlin Cancer Centre, Salvation Army or Havergal.

Melissa and I would like to extend our deepest condolences to Bruce,Kirk and Jump. I had the pleasure of visiting with Bruce and Roxanne this summer for a couple hours. I've known them for over 40 years and Roxanne was always genuinely happy to see you with a big smile. She had great sense of humor . She will be missed.

What a beautiful lady! Blessed so many with her love and kindness. Although she has passed on, her light will still shine bright in her family and in our memories.

It was a complete honour to have been a part of Roxanne’s life this past year. She was always so kind, and I will miss her smile and the way her eyes lit up when she talked of her family. I admired her strength. Even in her last days, she was concerned about everyone else, and never complained about her own pain. Thank you for trusting me, and allowing me to be a part of your story. You are forever in my heart Roxanne…may you now Rest In Peace. xo
