In memory of

Calvin Melbourne Hartley

November 13, 1941 -  December 17, 2023

Calvin Hartley passed away peacefully on Sunday December 17th at Scarborough Centenary Hospital in his 82nd year of life. Lifelong partner to George Barkett and a beloved member of the Szabo family he will be dearly missed. Calvin was always in great spirits and his once gold and then toothless smile was infectious to others. He worked with who was known to many as Uncle George for over 25 years at Barkett's Foodland in Mimico. You could always hear Calvin singing or whistling along to his tunes in the back from out-front. Calvin was the last member of his family who migrated from Jamaica to North America around 1961 and lived a very long joyful life. He brought joy to every member of the Szabo family and his memories will live on with them forever. Those that know Calvin will be at ease with the thought him and Uncle George are together for Christmas Dinner again and will probably be eating around midnight, along with John & Betty Szabo, Aunt Kay, Aunt Emiline, Grandma and Grandpa Barkett! We love you Calvin and are blessed to have had you in all our lives. RIP.

Calvin you will be dearly missed! I will always remember our grocery deliveries and the “special” stops that had to be made along the way. You always had a smile on your face no matter what and looked at things in a positive light!
