In memory of

Brian Raymond Johnston

January 25, 1943 -  July 30, 2021

Johnston, Brian Raymond. It is with great sadness that we announce the very sudden and unexpected passing of our father, on July 30th, 2021, at the young age of 78. Only son of Joseph Sidney and Iris Dorothy Johnston (deceased). Adored father of Tina and Brandi (Craig), special grandpa to Taylor and Mackenna, former husband of Maureen and best friend of Elsie Dales. Working in numerous roles in a variety of companies to eventually run his own, Brian was a hardworking, dedicated, and truly passionate in making a difference in people’s lives. His sense of humor and famous response whenever anyone asked how he was will always be in our hearts. He was forever grateful to the doctors at Etobicoke General Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Science Centre as he concurred colon and prostate cancer and just received confirmation that he remained cancer free. The two other members of the family his who brought him so much love and joy, his canine companions Jade (deceased) and Charlie. He loved those two dogs so very much. He was a hero. He would do whatever he could for anyone whether you knew him for a lifetime or met him on the corner, he was just that kind of man. His involvement in Big Brothers for numerous years where he was even a recipient of an award for his support and dedication. He will be remembered by the wonderful community of friends at Pinevalley Campgrounds where he spent every weekend in the summer so that he could have somewhere to putter around. His passion for photography, his favourite meal of chicken wings, rice medley and fries, and if you ever needed a pen, our dad had a Brijon pen for you in a heartbeat.

Those who wish to make donations in Brian’s memory are invited to support a charity that is close to you on behalf of our dad or to donations@savemedogrescue.ca which are the wonderful people he adopted Charlie from.

My heart is heavy as a read your post regarding the passing of my dear friend Brian, your father. Brian was one of the first fiends that I made when I moved to Toronto from Montreal twenty seven years ago. He was a generous and loving soul and we shared so many conversations about life and love. We would call each other for advice, some taken and some not but he was always there to listen. Through good times and bad we managed to have a have a few laughs and occasionally some tears. When I suffered from ‘concrete fever’ he would take me for ride in the country. While we didn’t speak as often as before, we did still keep in touch. He loved his girls dearly and spoke about both of you with such love. I will miss him dearly. Take care my friend and Rest In Peace.
