In memory of

Brenda Marie Bertolo

March 19, 1955 -  October 7, 2024

Brenda Bertolo, beloved wife to her late husband, Gerry Bertolo, passed away peacefully at Bethell Hospice in Inglewood after a brave battle with endometrial cancer. Born in Toronto, she settled in Brampton where she raised her family and lived until her passing.
Brenda is lovingly remembered by her children, Byron (Marielou), Emilia, and Alana, as well as her three sisters: Jeanette, Jennifer, and Kelly, and her mother, Audrey Elizabeth Black. She was predeceased by her father, Alan Blair Black. Her grandson, Javier, knew her as "Nanna," and Brenda cherished the time spent with him.
A passionate traveler, Brenda explored the world with Gerry, visiting places like Peru, where she flew in a small Cessna over the Nazca Lines in Peru, and walked the Great Wall of China. She has been all over Europe and Asia, never missing an opportunity explore different cultures. One of her most treasured experiences was traveling to Italy with her choir to perform in various cathedrals, blending her love of music with her spirit for adventure.
Music was a central part of Brenda’s life. She played the trumpet and bagpipes in her youth, learned to play the piano, and was an active soprano in several choirs, including the Mississauga Chamber Singers and the Peel Choral Society of Brampton. She studied music under Mervin Fick, whose direction helped her grow as a performer and remain connected to her musical community.
Brenda received compassionate and comprehensive care from Credit Valley Hospital, Brameast Family Physicians, and Bethell Hospice. The family would like to extend their gratitude to both the palliative care team at Brameast and Bethell Hospice for their kindness and support throughout her journey.
Brenda’s family welcomes donations to the Rebuilding of St. Anne’s Church and the Bethell Hospice Foundation in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held on October 26, 2024, at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Rd, Brampton. Visitation will take place from 10am-11am, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11am-12pm.

Brenda and I shared a love for music. We sang together in numerous choral groups and would meet at least twice a week at rehearsals. Sadly she has left us, but Brenda has been such an example of a joyous, and courageous lady right up to the end. May her soul rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to Brenda’s family as you all mourn the loss of a woman who shared her love and laughter and voice with so many. We will treasure the memories we shared together Sunday mornings at North Bramalea United Church, CAMP “It’Z a GuD LyPh”, and GIGS. May you feel God’s love and peace during this time ❤️🤗

My husband George and I both sang in the North Bramalea United Church with Brenda for many years. We also sang in Peel Choral Society for many years.
We were both saddened to hear of Brenda passing after a courageous battle with cancer. Brenda had a beautiful heart and soul for music and a strong faith in God.
She is surely singing with the angels in Heaven for all eternity! God bless her now that she is at peace.

So terribly sorry to hear of your dear Brenda's illness and passing. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends, especially Jeannette, Jennifer, Kelly and their families and their lovely Mom, Mrs. Black. May her memory be a blessing and bring great comfort to you in the coming days, months and years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Kindest regards,

Leslie
