In memory of

Beverley Ann Whittaker

September 11, 1938 -  October 31, 2021

Beverley Ann Whittaker
(née Marshall)
1938 – 2021

Bev died peacefully at Wellesley Central Place, Toronto, on October 31, 2021, after living with frontotemporal dementia for eighteen years.

Born and raised in Toronto, Bev was the daughter of Bernice and Aubrey Marshall. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, John, and their four daughters, Kelly (David), Sandra (Stephen), Lara (Peter), and Joanne (Kerry). Bev was the loving Mumma of Charlie, Virginia and Riley; Charlotte, Calvin and Fiona; and Hannah, Rebecca, and Bridget.

Bev was a creative person and was passionate about the arts. She was a practicing artist for many years and later a yoga teacher. She passed along a strong affinity for the arts to her girls through lessons in piano, dance, art and singing as well as regular visits to the symphony, ballet and museums. Large family gatherings and gardening at the cottage gave her joy and she welcomed people into her home with open arms. Bev was beautiful inside and out and was a free spirit who was ahead of her time.

Our sincere thanks to Edna and staff on 4 East at Wellesley Central Place and Marissa, Jessica and Cristina for their care and kindness to us all.

We have missed you for ages, Bev/Mom/Mumma, but are relieved that you are now at rest.

Please consider a donation in Bev’s name to the Dementia Research Fund c/o Baycrest Foundation or the Sunnybrook Foundation supporting The Dr. Sandra Black Centre for Brain Resilience and Recovery.

A service and reception will take place at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on Friday, November 19. Please email funeral4bev21@gmail.com to indicate your intent to join us and we will reply with details.

To the Whittaker Girls - I have so many happy memories of your beautiful mom and hanging out in your great house in the Kingsway with the cool yellow living room. She was always so warm and welcoming. My mom loved Beverley and considered her a dear friend. I hope they are somewhere together now sharing a laugh. Sending my love to all of you.
