It is with great sadness that the family of Bernard “Bernie” Blackett announces his passing after a brief illness on Monday, October 29, 2018, at the age of 77 years. Bernie will be lovingly remembered by his partner and best friend Clara Atkinson. Cherished father to Sylvia (Mike), Andrea (Winnie), and Wanda along with their mother, Jeannette. Loving step-father to Allan, Arlene and Cathy. Proud grandfather to Richard, Matthew, Jessica, Sara, Tyler, Aliah, Danika and great granddaughter Mia. Predeceased by his grandchildren Brandon and Chantel. Loving brother to Vivian (late Glendon), Judy, Larry (Pauline), David (Lise), Dorothy (Arthur), Mary-Jane (Bernard), Steve (Carmel), Doris, Donald, Douglas, Joyce and Linda (Lawrence). Bernie will also be remembered by his extended family of in-laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Family and friends will be received at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centre on Friday November 2nd from 10:00am until time of celebration of life in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in remembrance of Bernie.
