Sincere condolences to Bernice’s families and friends. I have many fond memories of times we shared. They will live on forever. She is now in Heaven with her beloved Barrie. Rest in peace. Love Always

To the Butler and Gorner families. As you mourn the passing of this beautiful, well respected lady please know that I am remembering Bernice today, with a smile. I was fortunate to have worked with Bernice at CRA back in the early 80s when the Centre first opened until Bernice moved back to Ottawa. Bernice was always a happy person, willing to lend a helping hand and a truly wonderful co-worker. Take comfort in knowing that Bernice is now reunited with Barry and her gentle soul is resting peacefully in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. HUGS.
I was a young child when we lived next door to Uncle Barrie and Auntie Bernice, alongside Pia and Minx. I will always remember the kindness they shared towards my sisters and I. Auntie Bernice would take us to see our favourite Disney movies in theatres and baked my birthday cake every year, I still remember the Little Mermaid cake she lovingly made over thirty years ago. I’ll miss sharing meals together, her lovely hugs, and will regret not being able to say goodbye properly. She will be missed.
I grew up next to Auntie Bernice in the 80-90s in Ottawa. She was a huge presence in my childhood and was part of our family. Although I had not been able to get in touch with her for the last few years, I remembered her often and lovingly. Every time I meet a Newfoundlander, I am so proud to tell them about my loving, intelligent, beautiful, passionate, proud, protective, and wonderful Aunt! Literally- as recently as last December! She will be missed very deeply by myself and the many many people who she brought love and joy to when she met them!
