In memory of

Beatrice Magder

April 22, 1927 -  September 28, 2022

Passed away peacefully at Cedarvale Terrace Long-Term Care Home. Loving mother of Paul (Fern). Adoring Bubi of Nathaniel (Emily) and Robin. The family sends much gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Cedarvale Terrace. In lieu of flowers donations to the Independent Jewish Voices of Canada or Indigenous Seed Sovereignty Network would be appreciated. Celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Bea was an inspiration. It must be forty years since I first met her when she was on sabbatical in Melbourne. Despite our age difference we ‘clicked’ and enjoyed spending time together. We met again in 1988 when my mother, daughter and I stayed with Bea in Ruth’s house. Bea was a wonderful host. Our luggage was delayed and she even found much needed clothes and shoes so we could venture out into the blizzard conditions. Bea later visited me again and we travelled together to Tasmania, one of the few places she hadn’t previously been to.

Bea was a wonderful companion. In Tasmania she became friends with the owners of the property where we stayed overnight and that friendship lasted for many years.

Bea’s love of people and her devotion to, and pride in, her family showed through her regular letters, as did her interest in world events.

My family and I were fortunate to know and love Bea Magder.

In many different ways Bea helped and supported me -- she was a remarkable person. I am grateful for having known her.
