In memory of

Basilios (Bill) Eliopoulos

February 10, 1932 -  June 25, 2025

It is with great sadness to announce the peaceful passing of my father Bill (Basilios) Eliopoulos, on Wednesday June 25th 2025, at 93 years of age.

He was a devoted father to his daughter Eleni, and beloved grandfather to his grandson Jonathan.

Born in the small village of Kaltezes, Tripoli, Greece, February 10th 1932, to his father loannis and mother Eleni, he came to Canada in November of 1958.

He had many odd jobs, until he found his calling at Bo Beep Restaurant as their head chef. He even made headlines one year in the Toronto Sun for his famous Shepherd's pie. He worked there for over 35 years until he retired.

He loved to garden in the summer and tinker around in the basement for hours at a time fixing things, renovating his home and keeping busy.

He was the eldest of 6 siblings, his late twin brother Apostolis, his late sisters, Katerina, Chrysoula, Athanasia, and youngest surviving brother Simeon.

He has many nephews and nieces, that he loved dearly: Marianna, Paraskevi and Yannis lliopoulos, George and John Baboulas, Mike and Artemis Manoukas, and John Eliopoulos. And through many of them, he was also a very proud great uncle to all of their children.

My father was a simple, humble, kind and generous man. He was also a bit stubborn at times, but knew when to give up and cave, especially for his daughter. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for me. And for that, I will forever be grateful for everything, especially for being able to enjoy his company for the last 22 years of his life. By doing so, I am at peace knowing that I made his life better and mine as well.
He will forever be loved, cherished and missed dearly by all who knew him.

May his memory be eternal.

Not only was Uncle Bill family, our kids enjoyed growing up in his vegetable patch at the back of his house. It was like a jungle. He and his sisters all enjoyed harvesting his vegetables and we spent many days in the afternoon back there. He was also a prominent fixture in my community where everybody knew him he loved the McDonald’s at Pape and Cosburn and my kids grew up seeing him daily. He always had a candy in his pocket for them. He shall be sorely missed.

We will always remember Bill fondly. He was a kind and generous man, always welcoming us with open arms when we came to visit, happy to see us, lots of smiles and laughs, and spoiling our son Gabriel too. He will be dearly missed.
