In memory of

Barbara Passander

September 24, 1954 -  August 12, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jolanta Barbara Passander (nee: Witkowski). Barbara passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at Princess Margaret Hospital, at the age of 68, after a brave and difficult fight. Devoted and loving wife of 40 years to Tony Passander; loving mother to Brendan (Stephanie), Lauren, and step-mother to Tara (Nick); beloved “BB” to Koehler and Shaela; and devoted and deeply loved grandmother to Jameson. Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Irena.

Barbara, or “BB,” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was the foundation of her family for 40 years. Barbara was the epitome of selflessness, always putting others, especially her children and grandchildren, first. She cherished her time spent in Florida – her second home of over 30 years – watching the sunset, walking the beach with Tony, and, more recently, watching her grandson, Jameson (JJ) grow. Barbara also thoroughly enjoyed her time spent on the slopes, skiing in Utah with her family annually, as well as her time golfing at Scarboro Golf Club. Barbara will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and closest friends.

A funeral service will be held for Barbara at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Rd., Toronto, ON) on Friday, August 18, 2023. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am – 11:30 am followed directly by a service at 11:30 am.

The family wishes for everyone to join them for a reception at Scarboro Golf Club located at 321 Scarborough Golf Club Road immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you please consider making a donation to Toronto General Hospital or Princess Margaret Hospital.

BARBARA'S SERVICE WILL BE LIVESTREAMED. FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH THE SERVICE - THE LIVE FEED WILL BE AVAILABLE AT 11:15 AM.

Tony, Brendan, and Lauren, my heart goes out to you and your families. I know that even though she is not in any more pain, it still does not make it any easier to lose her.

There are no words for such a sad time. My condolences. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Brother, I am so sad for you and your family. My fond memories of Barbara are her beautiful smile and outgoing personality. Though we didn't see each other often, we were "old friends " at every meeting. My thoughts are with you. 💕

My memories of Barb come with a huge smile. She lifted the energy in the room and created an atmosphere of fun and love around her. Always full of care for others, Barb’s infectious energy and light will be missed. My sincere condolences to the Passander family.
