Barbara Doris Pfister

May 19, 1930 -  April 6, 2017

PFISTER, Barbara Doris
May 19, 1930 – April 6, 2017
Passed away peacefully at Parkview Long Term Care, Stouffville, ON with family by her side. Loving wife to Robert (Bob); mom to Cheryl, Susan (Hugh Fulton), Julie (Paul Cheeseman) and Karen; mother-in-law to Dave Watt; grandma to Valery, Stephen, Bryan, Allison, Sarah and Adam; great-grandma to Mckenna, Raiden and Benjamin; sister of Shirley (Phil Conquer) and the late Gordon Gilbert; aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a loving wife and world travelling companion to Bob for 64 years. As a mom, she was simply the best – always there to lend an ear, to provide support and lots of love. She was an avid camper and enjoyed all types of music (Chubby Checker – she loved to twist, Anne Murray, Jimmy Buffett, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass.) The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parkview Long Term Care for the love and care they provided with the utmost level of compassion, kindness and patience. Services will take place at YORK FUNERAL CENTRE, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, M2N-5Z5 (416-221-3404) on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 with visitation starting at 1 pm followed by chapel service at 2 pm. Reception and Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of York Region.

I came to know Barb and Bob through my over 25 years' friendship with their daughter Karen. I will always remember Barbara for her wit, great sense of humour and for her strong will and determination to overcome so many health difficulties, especially during the last few years when life became so challenging. She was a strong person. She was a fighter.
She is at peace now and she will always be remembered with much love.
My condolences to her husband Robert, her daughters Cheryl, Susan, Julie and Karen and to all the extended family.
Felicia (Felicity).
