In memory of

Barbara Blasko

October 23, 2018

Peacefully, with her family by her side.
Born May 24, 1948. After meeting her husband Jim on a canoe trip in University, they backpacked through Europe and married in 1975. Together for 43 years, they created a life full of family adventures - skiing big mountains, snowshoeing, sailing on brisk winds and scuba diving under the Georgian Bay ice. Barbara made the most out of every moment.
A career as an English Teacher, she was dedicated to her family, education and reading. Oh how she read! With boundless warmth and energy, Barbara made a lasting impression on those who knew her and has left this world a brighter place.
A celebration of her life will be held at The Simple Alternative, 275 Lesmill Road, Toronto, (416) 441-1580 on Thursday, November 8, 2018 commencing at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.

Barbara always had such a wonderful zeal for life. It has ended far too soon. She will be missed.

Mark and I are very sorry to hear this news. We remember her lively presence at many family gatherings, and much farther back, I can picture her at her family's cottage, enjoying the lake and forest. May warm memories find a place in your hearts at this time.

Joe and I had the pleasure of lunching with Barb and Jim in July. Although she was little frail, we talked and joked very much like before. Barb married Jim (his mother was my godmother) and became part of our extended family. She was always gentle and kind to me. Given our two families busy lifestyles, we only saw each other a few times a year..and because of health issues, we never did get a chance to join Barb and Jim in Collingwood to go snowshoeing. Unfortunately a missed opportunity. She will be greatly missed: a wonderful teacher, wife, mother and friend.

I was blessed with being sister to Barbara for over 70 years.
She was loving, honest, and loyal.
Barbara adored her husband, Jim, from the minute she met him and she shared her feelings with me. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother (Nana).
She had such a passion for teaching and for the outdoors - oh, and for Scrabble, which we played together as often as possible.
She will forever be missed by myself and by many others.
Barbara "Till we meet again".
