In memory of

Athena Sofronas

February 15, 1938 -  August 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that the Sofronas Family announces the passing of our beloved Athena (Noulaki), who passed away at home on August 17, 2024 at the age of 86. Born to Ioannis and Georgina Konstantakopoulos in Kalamata, Greece, Athena made her way to Canada and married Stamatios Sofronas (originally from Kamara, Greece) on July 16, 1961. Athena is predeceased by both her husband and her daughter Katherine. She was a dedicated and loving mother to both Katherine and her younger daughter, Georgina. She was also the loving elder sister to her four younger brothers and their brides: Petros, predeceased (Dimitra, predeceased), Anestis (Lambrini), Mihalis, predeceased, (Konstantina), and Nickolaos (Vicki).

Athena was an exceptional seamstress and talented cook, skills which were cherished and enjoyed by her family and friends. She generously welcomed all into her home with warmth, grace and a sweet smile. In her golden years, she was a dedicated and highly respected volunteer at the Hellenic Home for the Aged for almost 20 years.

Athena was a dearly beloved mother. She will be deeply missed by all.

We appreciate all expressions of love and condolences from family and friends. Those wishing to send flowers may direct them to York Cemetery and Funeral Centre. Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Athena may send to: Toronto General Hospital, UHN.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Athena.
She was an incredible woman. Great disposition, charming and funny and caring. Best cook! I never left there hungry. Cutest accent when she spoke in English though I tried to pick up some Greek terms. She will be dearly missed. ❤️
