Captain Asare Apomah
Born on July 6t, 1948 at Akwamufie to Opanyin Moses Kwame Apomah and Madam Comfort Amma Pobia all of blessed memories. Bro. Asare as he was called was the seventh of ten children.
He started his primary education at Akwamufie and continued at Abetifi Presbyterian Boys School. He attended the Labone Secondary School in Accra, Ghana where he obtained his O-Level certificate. He continued to the Okuapeman Secondary School in Akropong Akuapem for A-Level certificate reading Maths and Science.
Captain as he was called by all and sundry, started his pre= sea courses at the Ghana Nautical College then continued for his 2nd and 1st Class deck courses at the South Shields Marine and Technical College in the UK.
He worked with the Black Star Line, Nigerian National Shipping Lines and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping lines as a Master Mariner. He latter became the Director of Operations {Technical} at the Black Star Line until he left for the World Maritime University in Malmo , Sweden he obtained his MSC in Shipping Management {Technical}. While at the BSL as the Director of Operations he also did some Part time lecturing at the Ghana Nautical College and as a Marine Surveyor.
Brother Asare migrated to Canada after MSC studies. He worked briefly with two freight forwarding companies in Canada before starting his own freight forwarding company. Caleb Shipping Inc. which he operated until he stopped about five years ago due to ill health.
Bro Asare passed away on Sept 17 2018 at Brampton Civic Hospital after a short illness. The beacon of the family is loss.
He left behind a wife, six children and five grandchildren.
We will dearly miss you Captain.
