In memory of

Ants Tint

July 23, 1935 -  November 27, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ants Tint on November 27, 2022 at the Scarborough General Hospital, aged 87. Predeceased by his wife, Benita, and beloved father of Erik (Julie) and Sylvia, and grandfather of Matthew and Katie.

Ants arrived in Canada with his parents in the 1950’s from Sweden where he spent his later childhood, after fleeing the Soviet occupation of Estonia. In Canada he met the love of his life, Benita, who passed away in the year they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. While visiting cottage country, they fell in love with a stony point jutting out into the lake with a tall lone pine. Over many summers Ants and Benita built the family cottage and enjoyed spending time with their family, friends and grandchildren in later years. Outside of his family, his other great love was the outdoors, where he taught his children to snowshoe and find rabbit tracks, and where he spent many hours with his Estonian, Finnish and Western Canadian friends.

He spent his working life in the telecommunications field, and was proud to have been involved in the engineering feat that was the CN Tower, being a member of the team that installed fibre-optic cable for its entire vertical length when it was under construction in 1974/75. He was always ready to lend a hand when friends and family needed help with construction, electrical, plumbing or even putting together IKEA furniture in a university residence. He will be dearly missed.

In memory of Ants, flowers may be sent to the funeral center by 8 am on Monday, December 5th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation (shnfoundation.ca) or a nature conservancy organization such as Ducks Unlimited Canada or the World Wildlife Fund.

It was an honour to know Mr Tint and share a nice scotch on many occasions. He was very proud of all his family and made a point to let them know.
We understand that he was also very proud to see his cottage finally finished with the trim this year. We will all miss his presence and wisdom. Our hearts and thoughts go to Sylvia, Erik, Julie Matt and Katie. Much love
