In memory of

Antonio Guerrero

January 19, 1934 -  May 9, 2023

On Tuesday, May 9th, surrounded by his 6 children, Antonio (Tony) Guerrero passed away at the age of 89. Antonio was born on January 19th, 1934 in the Philippines where he met the love of his life, Francisca, and married in 1962. After having 6 children in 7 years, the family immigrated to Canada in 1975, settling on Leslie Street on Toronto’s east side. Life as new immigrants was difficult, but Tony worked hard as a stationary engineer to ensure that the family had everything they needed and established strong community ties. His children grew up in a happy loving home and went on to have successful careers, and families of their own, leaving a lasting multicultural legacy.

As patriarch of the Guerrero family, Tony/Pa/Dad/Pops/Grandpa/Lolo loved having everyone over to celebrate family milestones and holidays. Happily manning the grill in the backyard or whipping up some Filipino specialties in the kitchen, he always made sure everyone was taken care of and well fed. He was passionate about his garden, and his vegetables and flowers were enjoyed by all those around him.

Tony was a Toronto sports fanatic, religiously following his Blue Jays and agonizing year after year about the Leafs. He enjoyed fishing with friends and his sons and also loved a bit of gambling, often taking trips to Casinos to hit the slots, and in his later years, visiting the local community center to play bingo twice a week.

A devout Catholic, Tony was active in the St. Joseph’s Church community serving as a volunteer and Eucharistic Minister for many years. After 15 long years apart, he will now be reunited with his beloved Francisca.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Antonio will be missed deeply by his loving children Arleen, Albert (Ana), Ranel (Deo), Raquel (Seymour), Antonio Jr. (Dianne) and Myra (Sharad) and his 9 grandchildren Alexander, Meghan, Brittany (Matt), Sydney, Colin, Dylan, Mya, Ryan and Malaya.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Antonio, anyone who wishes can make a donation to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
