In memory of

Antonia Duarte

July 14, 1933 -  June 2, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother and grandmother, Antonia Duarte. She passed peacefully on Friday, June 2nd, at the age of 89 after a lengthy and courageous battle with dementia.

Born in Braga, Portugal to a family of ten children, she immigrated to Toronto in 1975 to join her husband Domingos Loureiro Duarte (deceased). Strong and hardworking matriarch of her family, she leaves behind her two daughters, Rosa (Eddie) and
Teresa (Julio), and her four adored grandchildren, Evan, Chris, Katie & Zachary, to whom she lovingly was a second mother.

Antonia will be fondly remembered for being a kind and generous person, who always ensured anyone who visited her home left well-fed. She took special pride in being a doting mother and avó, with her fondest memories being the time she spent with her family and friends. She had a true zest for life, was quick to laugh and also to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A woman of strong faith, she instilled in her family the importance of values and led by example every day of her life.

Mom and Vó, we had the privilege of receiving your love and “conselhos” and know you will continue to guide us as our guardian angel. We were blessed to have you in our lives and will miss you so much. We love you.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your consideration in donating to Trillium Health Partners.
