In memory of

Anne Martha Owen

January 29, 1922 -  October 25, 2017

Anne grew up during the depression and like many of that generation, she was tough (at times, feisty) and very hard working--she worked and lived independently until she was 80 and was only stopped by the onset of dementia. She was fun loving and generous to a fault; thankful for any kindness and embarrassed by compliments.

She spent her final years at the Willows Estate LTC facility where she was adopted by the staff as Annie. The staff treated her with much love and exceptional care.

Her advanced state of dementia meant it was time for her to go, but it is hard to say goodbye. RIP Mom.

No flowers, please; instead, consider a donation to a favourite charity. A family celebration of life will take place at a future time; no funeral is planned.

Please consider leaving a memory or condolence in the My Story or Guestbook pages of this site.

I am your grandson’s girlfriend. I never had the pleasure to meet you. But I got a brand new fish tank, and named my 2 white gorgeous African sicalis fish, Annie and Olga. After you and your sister. Peace And Love be with you.

When all memories of your life are gone, life has little meaning and nothing to look forward to. Rest at peace. Your life was well lived.

Dear L&C;

Your mother's story is much like that of my own, also Anne. While she persists at 91, she is showing signs of the final decline of dementia. It is a long, slow parting demanding courage of all.

Larry, you have inherited your mother's strength and wit (feisty, indeed) - a fine legacy for a fine woman.

My deepest sympathies to the family.
Carol

My mothers parents (Molly and Steve Kruk) were sweethearts in the Ukraine who wanted to come to Canada to start a life together. He came first and was at sea when the Titanic went down in 1912. She followed in 1914 and got the last ship out of Poland before World War One broke out. They had three children: Olga, Stan, and Annie.
