In memory of

Anne Elizabeth FitzPatrick

June 20, 1937 -  January 4, 2024

Anne Elizabeth FitzPatrick (nee De Ville) passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 in her 87th year, surrounded by family and friends. Anne was survived by her husband of almost 66 years Brian, her brother Jimmy (Judy), her four children James (Martha), Robyn (Peter), Ian (Donna), and Pamela (Peter) as well as her two nephews Martin (Zoe), and Andrew (Jane). Anne left behind a legacy for her 13 grandchildren who affectionately called her Grandma: Johanna, Ezra (Beth), Hannah, Abigail, Nehemiah, Isaiah (Elizabeth), Charlie, Elisabeth, Brooke, Magdalene, Eric, Joel, and Cole. She leaves behind many extended family members whom she loved deeply, her many step grandchildren: Darlene, Keith (Mahesh), Robert (Rachel), Gabriel (Jennifer), Andrew, AJ (Allison), Kristen, and Karina, and her 5 step great grandchildren: Dominic, Gabriel, Jacob, Levi, and Jude.

Anne was born in Worthing England on June 20th, 1937. Growing up during wartime, Anne lived through bombings and even a near death experience where she was saved by her brother Jimmy who moved her from a blast area to safety. Despite the time she grew up in, Anne spoke fondly of her childhood and the time spent with her brother who truly was her childhood partner in crime. As a young adult Anne made the decision to stay in England although her parents moved to Canada, as she loved England too much to leave. When Anne’s husband Brian came to England on leave in 1957, they fell in love and married on January 25, 1958 - within just two months of meeting each other. Once his leave ended, Anne joined him on his return to Nigeria, Africa where she had previously lived from the age of 14 to 17. Anne and Brian lived in Nigeria until their first child (James) was born a year later. Shortly after James’ birth they returned to England and then eventually moved to Canada by ship in August 1959. A few years later Anne was blessed with three more children, her daughter (Robyn) followed by another son (Ian), and then her baby girl (Pamela). Anne was extensively involved in her children’s lives. Not just dealing with her children’s health issues but being a strong advocate for each of them by ensuring they got the attention and care they needed. She was actively involved in the Girl Guides, and through later years helped on numerous political campaigns. As Anne’s family grew with grandchildren and many extended members, she showed her limitless capacity for giving to each individual she cared for. As time went on, she continued to show her love and pride in all her family members by being each one’s cheerleader in all their accomplishments and struggles. All who knew Anne, knew her as someone who had much strength, but also as someone who was exceptionally caring and giving. She had a tremendous impact on all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Anne now lives a life free of pain in heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ.

May this bring you all some comfort at this sad time x

Right now I'm in a different place
And though we seem apart
Im close as i ever was was
Im there within you heart

I'm with you when you greet each day
And while the sun shines bright
I'm there to share the sunsets too
I'm with you every night

I'm with you when the times are good
To share a laugh or two
And if a tear should start to fall
I'll still be there for you

And now that days arrived
That we are now apart
I'll smile and hold you close to me
Forever in my heart x

I have such wonderful memories of weekends at the trailer, knee boarding and canoeing as well as fabulous roast beef dinners with the best Yorkshire pudding at your house! Camping with the girl guides and trans Atlantic cruise escapes where you tended to my horrific case of sea sickness. My mom and your royal watching marathons and almost daily early morning coffee dates at the local restaurant. Your humour, grace and zest for life will be missed but we are all richer for having had you in our lives I'm sure my mom was there to greet you at the pearly gates with a cup of tea and some bread pudding in hand. Rest in eternal peace "Auntie" Anne.

Much love.
