In memory of

Anna Lazar

August 28, 1932 -  October 25, 2025

It is with deep love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Lazar, who passed away peacefully at the age of 93.

Anna was born in 1932 in Dobravica, Slovenia, and immigrated to Canada in 1958 with her beloved husband Steve (Stjepan), where together they built a new life filled with love, hard work, and family.

Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose kindness, strength, and warmth touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Helena and her husband Doug and her son Robert and his wife Kelly. Anna was an adoring grandmother to Mitchell and his and his fiancée Clio, and to Steven, who brought her endless pride and joy.

She found her greatest happiness in caring for her family and welcoming others into her home. Anna was a wonderful cook and baker, known for preparing delicious meals and treats that brought people together. Nothing made her happier than seeing others enjoy her food and share laughter around her table.

Anna was also a women of many talents. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress. She had a remarkable gift for sewing and making clothing alterations, always ensuring that garments fit perfectly. Whether mending a cherished piece or creating something new, she took great pride in her craftsmanship and loved helping family and friends through her skill and attention to detail. Anna was also extremely independent, loved her winter vacations and there was nothing she couldn’t fix!

Anna’s life was a beautiful example of love, resilience, and generosity. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering devotion to her family.

A service will be held in her honour at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre - 375 Mount Pleasant Road on Tuesday, October 28th. Visitation at 10 am followed by a Service in our Chapel at 12 pm. Burial and Reception after. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Canada in Anna’s memory.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

I was saddened by the news of your mother’s passing. Losing a mom is extra hard. We need to be strong and remember that no matter what your mom will always be watching over you. Mothers never really die, they just keep the house up in the sky, They polish the sun by day and light the stars that shine at night

Saddened by the passing of my aunt. She wasn't just a wife, mother and grandmother, but also sister to my mom, four other (predeceased) sisters, and an aunt to almost a dozen nieces and nephews living in Slovenia. She will be forever remembered in all of our hearts. Počivaj v miru, teta Ani.
