My deepest condolences to the entire family on the loss of your matriarch "Em". Memories of her bright, welcoming smile and sense of humour will live on in memory. I will remember also her love of a lively discussion, especially if it was about painting or gardening. She was always eager and able to make every one of any age or description feel welcome, and thoughtful enough to send a well written condolence card to her daughter's friend. May her light be remembered and ease your grief in the days to come.

Suzanne Wiehler (Daughter)

Entered July 22, 2024 from Toronto

After raising their five children and following a 22-year career with Seiko Canada, Emily retired with John to their home at Balsam Lake – Walden Villa and later to their second retirement home in Bobcaygeon. Surpassed only by her love for John, was Emily’s love and joy for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – who will remain her living legacy. John and Emily loved to travel and went to many beautiful destinations around the world throughout their years together. Through John’s love of photography, Emily became his favourite and most photographed model. Emily’s desire to travel continued following John’s passing in June, 2013, and she travelled with some of her children to places such as Mexico, Cuba, Florida, Dominican Republic, New York and Spain. Emily was an avid gardener, tending to her blooming and ever-expanding gardens daily throughout the spring and summer months. Emily thoroughly enjoyed music and always had it playing in the house. Having taken oil painting lessons in 1966, Emily became an accomplished Artist, painting copies of famous works of art by eye. She continued her love of painting throughout her life, often doing paintings as gifts for her family and friends. She is also lovingly remembered by her numerous Nieces, Nephews and Friends, many of whom thought of her as their favourite Auntie Em or as a second Mom.
