In memory of

Angela Sutanto-Phangsoa

August 29, 1971 -  May 7, 2020

Angela Sutanto Phangsoa, age 48, died peacefully on May 7th 2020 with her husband and two daughters by her side in her home in Pickering, Ontario after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was the 9th child of Hendra and Liniyati Sutanto, born on August 29th 1971 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and moved to Canada in 1982 at the age of 11. She attended Forest Glen HS and graduated from Bayview Hill SS, further completing a Bachelor’s in Architectural Science at Ryerson University. It was while in school she met the love of her life, and husband of nearly 23 years, Duco Phangsoa. At retirement, she was an Assistant General Manager for student living and brought a lot of care into ensuring university students had a home away from home.

Angela is survived by her husband, her 2 daughters, Azalea and Maya, her mother, 4 brothers and 4 sisters, and a great many nieces and nephews.

Family was a huge pillar in Angela’s life. Home meant cooking delicious food for family and friends, or having a hot bowl of pho, her favourite. Angela was a creative soul who loved to draw and travel so she could experience new food and soak in architectural influences around the world. She is sorrowfully missed for the way she could light up a room with her warm smile, and unconditionally love those around her.

A virtual memorial at Elgin Mills Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday May 13 2020, from 1-3pm. Family, friends, and others are invited to join us virtually at the links below to reminisce, grieve, and support each other.

Oh Angela, what a blessing to have worked with you. You were always so caring, outgoing and supportive of a lot of us at C1. We thank God for the years we were blessed to have known you, sleep now and take your rest. Wishing strength for the family at this time.

I will always remember Angela's warm smile and gentle, loving nature. Even while she suffered from brain cancer, as did my husband, she managed to bring joy into our lives. She was insistent that we meet her daughters and husband and I am so glad we did. What a wonderful family who will be able to support each other though this difficult time.

Azalea, Maya, Duco: My heart truly goes out to you even though you may never have heard of me. Angela was a friend to me and my brother Jason while we were in Glenforest SS together. I have always, always remembered Angela because she was so full of good, more so than 99.9% of the people who I have met in my life. Her loss saddens me terribly, even though I haven't seen her for 34 years. The three of you are so unbelievably lucky to live in Angela's heart for the majority of her life on Earth, and now forever more. Angela was the most saintly of humans. Peace be with you, Duco. Peace be with you, Azalea and Maya.
